Sore muscles, swollen feet, tender breasts? Being pregnant is not all sunshine and rainbows (although there are plenty of those) and sometimes you will just need a little extra TLC. This is where a massage therapist trained in prenatal massage can help. Prenatal massage helps with the same issues that a regular massage does, but also takes into consideration the mother’s safety and well-being. So not only will you leave feeling refreshed and less sore, but also less stressed out because you know that your health and the health of your baby was the number one priority.
Let’s take a look at a few things to know before scheduling your prenatal massage: Continue reading

The Hydra Fusion Facial is actually the most amazing facial treatment that we provide at Practically Perfect. Not many spas have access to this technology, even in metro Atlanta. That’s why we are thrilled to have it available for our clients. But first, what is it?
- AquaClean™ System–The Hydra Fusion Facial utilizes the AquaClean™ system which uses water and nutrients to first exfoliate and then hydrate the skin. The system is abrasion-free and does not dry or irritate the skin like other facial treatments can.
- Aquaporins–When we were born, the water molecules in our skin cells were in perfect alignment within the aquaporin channels walls. This gave us the ideal elasticity and hydration in our skin. As we get older, our skin changes and the aquaporin proteins are reduced and it becomes harder for the body to hydrate the skin. This results in fine lines and wrinkles. The Hydra Fusion Facial cleans the bacteria from the skin and hydrates the healthy skin cells which reduces the appearance of wrinkles. Plus you get the most gorgeous glow!
- Easy & Painless–With the Hydra Fusion Facial, there is no downtime, no redness, and no abrasive tools. It even takes care of white and blackheads! Not to mention, the more times you have the Hydra Fusion Facial, the better your results will be and the longer they will last.
Right now we are running an amazing deal on the Hydra Fusion Facial!

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes;
I have always loved this poem by Lord Byron and when thinking about what to write for Kara, it just popped into my mind. It describes her personality to a T, she does walk in beauty and she is the first to see the good in people. She is kind and giving when so many are not. She tries each day to do good in the world through her relationships with her daughter, her family, and her clients.
We love her ready laugh, her smile, her sweet nature and we know you do too. Take a peek inside Kara’s world by reading below.
It has been said that being a small business owner is making a courageous decision to start and then continuing to make courageous decisions every day. Running a small business is never easy. It requires guts to open the doors every day, to market yourself and your business, to handle licensing, taxes, profit and loss. To hope and pray that at the end of the week, you have money to pay yourself. And it only becomes more complicated when you hire staff. Your employees depend on you for leadership, guidance, as well as a paycheck and you feel the responsibility every day, right there on your shoulders. (In the US, small businesses provide 55% of all jobs.)
That’s why it was such big deal when Small Business Saturday was created in 2010. Everyone knows that the holidays are were small businesses make the majority of the profit that will carry them through the lean times (and there are always lean times.) Finally, there was an entire event devoted to the mom & pops, the local pharmacy, the furniture store. We had a day designed to bring the people out to support the backbone of our local economy. And it has only grown from there.
This year we are celebrating the 5th Small Business Saturday in Downtown Canton. It is this Saturday, November 28 and it is going to be stellar! All of the stores, restaurants, and boutiques will be offering major deals, including Practically Perfect.
We know that the holidays can be tough and we know that you have to be careful how you spend your money. But remember that for every $100 you spend at a locally-owned store, $68 stays in the community (compared to $43 at a big box.) That’s $68 that you invest in jobs and entrepreneurship. That’s $68 that can help buy Little League uniforms. That’s $68 that you put towards the environment because what you bought required less transportation and packaging.
So on Friday instead of rushing out to the big strip mall, kick back and relax with a turkey sandwich. Then come visit your friends in Downtown on Saturday. We can’t wait to see you.
Check out the specials below for Downtown Canton!
Hey, Meghan here again.
Have you ever had one of those awful, under the skin, painful pimples? The kind that just lurk there like some deep sea monster? Known as “blind pimples” because they have no head, they are always larger and more painful than the average pimple because the inflammation is deep down in the skin.
Did you know that there is a fast fix waiting at Practically Perfect? Seriously. The other day after finding one of these on my chin when I woke up, I stopped in at the spa to see if there was anything Lisa could do to make it not quite so Mount Vesuvius-like. She suggested we use the high frequency machine on it, which I had never tried before and it worked great.
But what exactly is it? Here a few things to know:
She’s SUPER-CALLIE-fragilisticexpialidocious and I’m sure she has never heard that before (forgive me, Callie.)
Ahem, anyway, I would love to introduce the newest member to the Practically Perfect family, Callie. She joins us as our new stylist and colour expert. You might have seen on our Facebook page the lovely style she did for Brittany’s homecoming, if not here it is:
We are so excited to have Callie join us and we know you will love her enthusiasm and sweet personality just as much as we do. If you haven’t yet made her acquaintance, read on to get the inside scoop.
I don’t think there is a limit to the accomplishments of our newest massage therapist, Tracy. Her resume is testament to her thirst for knowledge and she puts into practice every thing she has learned. Her goal for her clients is a state of total wellness, including diet and nutrition. She shows how massage, as well as food-based healing can play a major part in a client’s overall health.
Most importantly, Tracy is kind. She makes you feel comfortable immediately. You know that when you are with her, her entire focus is on you and that’s rare these days.
If you haven’t yet met Tracy, get to know a little bit about her by reading below.
Hey there, Meghan here posting for Lisa today and I thought we’d talk about eyebrow tinting. I recently started doing this at the spa and let me tell you that I LOVE the way it looks. Madi, Atiya, Lisa, and Briana all do an amazing job and I couldn’t be happier with my new slightly-darker brows.
I have always had very pale, fine eyebrows. So much so, that one time someone asked me where they were…like they had managed to escape from my forehead. We weren’t friends for a little bit after that. 🙂
But I digress. If you haven’t considered eyebrow tinting or if you have, but haven’t made an appointment yet, here are a few things to know:
If you are anything like me, you might already feel your lips starting to chap in this cooler weather. Although we have had a lot of rain in North Georgia this week, my skin still feels parched. And every year, I struggle with a bright red nose from sneezing and blowing and cracked dry heels. I love this time of year, but it sure can be rough on the body.
This time around, things are going to be a little different though. I’m going to follow these five easy steps and keep my skin looking great even on the coldest day of the year.
A painful bikini wax ranks right up at the top of the my list of fears. Having someone nonchalantly ripping out the hairs from a very tender part of your body is no fun whatsoever. (Yeowww.) This is why it’s important to get all the information you need before dropping trou.
First off, don’t have a glass of wine before your appointment to take the edge off. Alcohol will actually work as a stimulant and tighten the pores, thus making it harder to pull out the hair. Also don’t shave before your appointment. The hair needs to be 1/4 to 1/8 of an inch long in order for the best results (it also is quicker and easier to remove.) Lastly don’t workout before or after your appointment. Sweat will make it harder to remove hair and the friction from working out after can cause a reaction. Wait at least 24-48 hours after your wax to work out.
Now let’s get to the Top 5 Questions to discuss before getting waxed:
The relationship between you and your stylist is an important one and it can take awhile to develop a friendship. Apart from husbands and best friends, your hairstylist usually knows the most about you and your life, work, and family. The salon should be a naturally supportive environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your ideas and learning how to achieve them. Your stylist should act as an extension of that hospitality and make you feel right at home.
In order to get to that point though, you will need to ask some questions first. Any stylist worth her salt should be able to answer these for you and if they can’t, get yourself a new one post haste!
So here they are, in no particular order, the top 5 questions to ask your stylist: Continue reading
We have all been there, sitting in the stylist’s chair as they are showing you how to style your hair and telling you how to do it at home. On the outside, you smile and nod and maybe say something like, “Sure, I could do that.” On the inside you are just like, “Yeah, no, that’s not happening.”
Maybe you are short on time or your arm hurts after holding the blowdryer for more than 3 minutes or perhaps the ponytail is your life. Believe us when we say that we know all about it and we want to help!
On Thursday, November 12, at 6pm, we will be offering a class for YOU. Bring in your products and your brushes and after we shampoo you, we will see how you usually style your hair, while offering suggestions and advice. We know you have a specific look in mind and this is a great way to get some hands-on experience achieving it.
The class is limited to 18 and the cost is $20. Visit Book Now and once you click the link, choose Book Class on the left or give us a call at 770.704-5614 and we will get you signed up.
This is a great way to prepare for all of the holiday parties in a supportive, helpful environment. Plus refreshments are included!
Top 5 Questions to Ask Your Esthetician
If you haven’t ever been to see an esthetician before, you might have concerns about what actually happens when you are there. Any good service provider should be able to answer your questions, put you at ease, and make you feel great about your results. At Practically Perfect, we want you to feel completely comfortable every step of the way. So we sat down and brainstormed about the questions that we think you should ask us (if you’d like to.)
Of course, a lot of what we have listed here will get talked about during your appointment, but if we don’t hit on a topic or if you need more detail—talk to us. We want to be your skin’s best friend.
So here go the 5 questions you should ask:
Tailgating and football, falling leaves and apple cider, scarves and boots….these are a few of my favorite things! Seriously, though we love fall. And we want you to as well!
Come visit us during the month of October and get a free pumpkin treatment with any manicure or pedicure. We are also offering 10% off ANY service for new clients.
We apology for the short post, but we are about to go rake some leaves. Come see us soon at Practically Perfect and tell us why you love fall!
Although not an esthetician, massage therapist, or stylist (even though she loves the services provided by each 🙂 ), Meghan is a valuable member of the Practically Perfect team. Just today I said, “I don’t know how other people survive without a Meghan.”
As we move into a strange new world with a new salon system and a new website, knowing I have Meghan in my corner makes me feel good.
If you haven’t met Meghan yet, read more below.
Most of our clients know that Sasha recently injured her knee and was unable to work for almost two months. What you might not know is that her clients, especially the men, waited for her to get back before getting a haircut. For two months. It was almost like this:
Seriously though, Sasha is one of the most talented, warmhearted, giving people we have ever had the pleasure of working with and her clients know it. She makes us laugh and reminds us to be a positive force in the world, even when things aren’t going our way.
When she isn’t at the spa, she loves spending time with her family and friends and at her church. Want to more about the lovely Sasha? Read on.
We have been in the process of moving our salon and spa account from software to another and with that comes a new and improved website! Over the next couple of weeks, we transferring all data out of Vagaro and moving to Clover. Please bear with us as we continue to improve your experience. You will still have the option of booking online, plus new features like this blog!
If there are any features you’d like to see added, please talk to us in the comments. We would love to hear from you.
Also we wanted to wish our friends, Michael and Kristie, warm congratulations on their wedding today! We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
Have a lovely weekend, friends!
Anne has been their since the beginning. In the little white house on Main Street, running the front desk, taking care of clients, making sure everything goes smoothly. She is the steady heartbeat on which we all rely. She knows when we need supplies, when we need a hug, and when we need our space. She is enthusiastic about her work, her friends, her family, and her garden.
Practically Perfect would not be the same without Anne. It would be like trying to work without the use of your hands. She is the true spirit of hospitality and graciousness and we love her dearly.

If you have been to the spa recently, you might have seen some rearranging, some new items and some items that are long gone. We have been making lots of headway into redoing our space, including new shampoo bowls, new stations for our stylists, and a new front desk area.
The real change though is apparent in our energy. Through the spa’s physical changes, the team has found new energy and new zeal in the work we do. Our new shampoo bowls are easier to use and more comfortable, so we experience less back and neck issues. Our new stations have more space and are more pleasing to the eye, so our guests feel more comfortable. Our new front desk area has been remodeled for expanded seating and ease of use. All of these changes have increased our happiness exponentially.
Our goal at Practically Perfect is for you, the client, to have the best experience possible. When we improve the spa physically, we improve ourselves mentally, and, therefore, improve your experience.
Stop by soon to check out the improved digs! In the meantime, take a gander at these photos!
New Shampoo Bowls!
Before and After!
The staff at Practically Perfect our so excited to introduce to you our newest team member and friend, Heather. While she hasn’t been at the spa for very long, she has been in the industry for a number of years. Her enthusiasm and the joy she takes in working are a perfect fit with our team. She always ask questions and takes initiative to make things run just a little bit more smoothly.
When she isn’t at the spa, she is busy raising her beautiful children, hanging out with her husband, running her own business and taking care of her extended family. We aren’t sure when she finds time to get a little shut-eye, but we are oh so glad she decided to include us in her world.
If you haven’t met her yet, this post will give you the inside scoop!
Wow, what a ride it has been. When I started attending the Elaine Sterling Institute to learn to be an esthetician, I had no idea where it would lead me. It was only later after graduating that I realized my aptitude for business and the joy I found in making people feel and look better.
Practically Perfect Day Spa & Salon is the product of years of hard work, sacrifice, love, and joy. After my family, it is the first thing I think about in the morning and the last thing on my mind before I fall asleep. There have been days where it has been hard to keep trying, but when I look at the wonderful group of people around me, I find my reason to keep moving forward.
As I’m sure you know, Practically Perfect wouldn’t be the same without the passionate and compassionate staff. The team at the spa are among the most well-trained, well-educated, giving individuals that I have ever had the pleasure of leading. Their willingness to learn, the pleasure they take in their work, and their unfailing good humor make it easy to show up every day, ready to work.
Looking to the future, some of you might have seen my dream plan hanging on the wall at the spa. It shows Practically Perfect’s expansion showing perhaps a wedding venue, more treatment rooms, a bistro, etc. The sky is the limit with our spa and our team and, thankfully, our little, sweet city is moving forward too. We are proud to be in Downtown Canton, we are proud to be your local spa and salon, and I am proud to be your friend. #CantonForward #PracticallyPerfectForward
All the best,
She has been called a miracle worker or the gal with the magic hands. Chelsey’s massages make you want to love the world and forgive your enemies- I’m not kidding, they are that good.
When she isn’t healing our clients, Chelsey can be found spending time with her family and loving on her son. She is always trying new things and dedicates herself to learning more every day. Her determined attitude inspires everyone at Practically Perfect.
If you haven’t yet gotten a chance to know Chelsey, take a moment to read more.
You know what’s frustrating? Being in your 30s (or 40s, or 50s) and thinking that you have finally put the bane of any teenager’s existence, acne, behind you. Then suddenly you wake up with several massive pimples and you are 13 all over again.
It really isn’t fair. At all. You know if you pick at it, it will just turn red and you will have to go to work with a beacon on your face. If you squeeze it, it will be that much more angry and might lead to a scar.
So what can you do about it? Well as Benjamin Franklin once said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” So here are 4 easy ways to help prevent those pimples from becoming a reality.
“She’s a Dreamer, a Doer, a Thinker. She sees possibility everywhere.”
That quote might well have been written about Madi, our former front desk associate, esthetician in training, and now stylist assistant. She is the first to try new things, to learn new things, and to share new things. She keeps us laughing with her funny faces (and Face Swap) and her silliness.
When she isn’t working at the salon, she is with her beautiful baby girl, Ellie and her main squeeze, Chas. If you don’t know more about Madi, you really ought to read on.
Ahhh, the elusive smoky eye look. We all want it and many of us struggle with creating it perfectly. No matter how many step by step eyeshadow compacts they make, it is still a struggle to arrange them perfectly on an eyelid. But fret no more, we have your answer!
We have made it pretty simple with basic instructions (and photos!) so you can do it at home.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Barbara Holloway chose Goldie Hawn as the actress to play her, should her life ever be made into a movie. Barbara, like Goldie, exudes positive energy and warmth. Her motto might very well be, “There are no strangers, only friends we haven’t met yet.”
Barbara’s 30+ years in the hair industry, not to mention the thousands of returning clients, are testimony to her friendly personality and the high standards to which she holds herself. Practically Perfect is better for having her on our team.

It is our firm belief at Practically Perfect Day Spa that everyone should have a skincare regimen. Your skin is unique and we feel that your regimen should be customized to your needs. We use PCA Skin care products at the spa, which are fully customizable to each person. We pride ourselves on making sure the customer is well-informed when it comes to each product and how to use them correctly. Generally speaking, every regimen will consist of four different steps: Continue reading
You may have gotten to know this free spirit at R&M Hoagie Shop in Downtown Canton or you may have seen her behind the front desk at the spa, but you might not know much about Briana DeLuca. First and foremost, our newest esthetician in training wants you to know that she is ALWAYS hungry. But secondly, you should know that she always goes the extra mile in whatever she does. She brings a lightness and vibrancy to Practically Perfect and we don’t know what we would do without her.

As we head into a new school year and, hopefully, out of an especially hot summer, you might be feeling a little worn out. All the sun, working in the yard, playing on the beach has probably taken a toll on your skin. If so, a body treatment might be just what your skin needs to feel rejuvenated and refreshed. If you haven’t ever had a body treatment, you might be wondering what exactly happens during one.
Guest Post, y’all! The boss lady (as we lovingly call her) is taking a break from writing today, so we decided to write about her. You might know Lisa Furilla from her involvement in the Canton Main Street Program or from her work with Sean at Teasley Middle School. You might know her beautiful girls, Brooke and Brittany, or her sweet pups, Max and Betty. If you have visited the spa, chances are you have seen her smile from behind the desk.
She keeps everything running for us. She is our backbone and our pillar. She is practically perfect in every way.

How to: Take Care of Your Feet between Pedicures
There really isn’t a better feeling than coming out of a salon with soft and well-kept feet. Nowadays, nail salons do an average of one pedicure for every three manicures, when ten years ago manicures outnumbered pedicures ten to one. Everyone likes to have their feet looking their best and great foot care is especially important for people who suffer from health issues like diabetes.
We recently wrote an article on why it was important to choose a nail salon that made cleanliness and safety the top priority. That’s why we have partnered with Selina Wilmot, a medical nail technician, to make sure that our practices our top notch. She has also given a bit of advice on how to take care of your feet between pedicures.
We love our sweet, country girl who has the strongest eyebrow game in the business. Tess routinely has us all cracking up, not to mention she is a Jacqueline of all trades (hair, makeup AND nails!) Her dream is to someday open her own salon, but she loves working at Practically Perfect, raising her son, spending time with her family, and racin’.
Want to learn more about our Tess?
This one seems pretty simple, right? You have been shampooing your hair for years, and it seems to have worked out all right. However, you may have noticed dryness or oiliness from time to time and you can’t figure out why. It didn’t seem like you had done anything differently, but your hair just would not style that day. So you put it up or wrap it up and forget about it.
If you’ve had those days, it might be because you weren’t shampooing and conditioning your hair properly. We’ve made it easy for you in this article to get the perfect shower cycle down every time. Just follow these 6 easy steps: Continue reading
It is our firm belief that every nail salon should have a medical nail technician on staff. (Read our recent article to understand why.) We are blessed to have Selina working with us here at Practically Perfect. She holds herself to the highest standards of cleanliness and service and by doing so, makes all of us strive to be our very best. She also has a wicked sense of humor (when you get to know her.) 🙂

Your feet bear your entire weight every day, so it really isn’t any wonder that they are sore by the end of it. We compound it by wearing high heels or too-small shoes and by not taking proper care of our feet. Calluses, bunions, plantar’s warts—none of them are any fun. Plus you might be embarrassed that they’re there, even though we all get them. You know you should visit a salon to give them a little TLC, but which one?
Our in-house free spirit brightens our day with her sweet smile and cheerful disposition. We never see her not moving, so it was hard to pin her down for a quiz. 🙂
Want to find out more about Allison?
You may have been to the salon. You may have even had a facial or a wax by Atiya, but how well do you know her? She is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.
Let’s find out more, shall we? Continue reading
Our very first blog post is going to be about something near and dear to my heart- sunscreen and skin protection. Every year, 5 million people are treated for skin cancer in the United States and that number is going to get higher.
We love when summer is here and the sun is shining. Everyone is outside hanging by the pool, grilling burgers, or working in their yard. Hopefully, they all have sunscreen on, but most likely they have forgotten or they haven’t reapplied or they missed a spot. A recent study in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology reported that the majority of Americans are not regularly applying sunscreen when they are outdoors. According the report, only 14.3% of men and 29.9% of women wear sunscreen when going outside for more than an hour.
Yikes. If you count yourself in the majority of people not wearing sunscreen regularly, here are some tips to help you choose the right sunscreen and apply it correctly:
