It’s that time of the year again, everyone is gathered together for the holidays and inevitably someone catches a cold or comes down with a sore throat. The stress of planning the perfect holiday season coupled with little Timmy being out of school makes it easy to be laid low with an illness.
But before you chug the Robitussin, consider using a few natural remedies with essential oils to speed healing. Here are a few ways to use them:
- Lemon & Honey Tea–Having a sore throat is no fun, especially when are all sorts of wonderful treats to eat this time of year. When you feel that little tickle in the back of your throat, get out your mug or a little sauce pan and warm 1 cup of water with 1 tablespoon of honey and 4-5 drops of all natural lemon essential oil (we like doTERRA.)
- Gargle–Blend together with a very small glass of water, 3 drops of Oregano and 3 drops of doTERRA’s Protective Blend and gargle with it in order to heal a sore throat.
- Humidifier & Peppermint–Put a few drops of peppermint oil in your humidifier to help with headaches and relieve nausea. You can also warm a bowl of water and place a few drops in it, then drape a towel over your head and breath it in.
- Diffuser–Purchase a diffuser for your home and use eucalyptus or lavender oils in your bedroom or bathroom. Eucalyptus works as a decongestant, while lavender helps relieve sinus pain.
We hope these remedies help in your speedy recovery. Remember to take the time to take care of yourself.
