How To: Wash Your Face

It is our firm belief at Practically Perfect Day Spa that everyone should have a skincare regimen. Your skin is unique and we feel that your regimen should be customized to your needs. We use PCA Skin care products at the spa, which are fully customizable to each person. We pride ourselves on making sure the customer is well-informed when it comes to each product and how to use them correctly. Generally speaking, every regimen will consist of four different steps:

  1. Cleanse—Cleansing your skins means that makeup, dirt, and oils are being removed so that the healthy products will be absorbed into the skin. Our estheticians recommend that you cleanse twice. Once to remove top layer of impurities and the second to penetrate and do its work.
  2. Correct—All PCA Skin products are ph balanced, so that your skins looks and feels its very best. Adding toning or correcting products to your regimen will help to fix or eliminate individual concerns like acne or discolorations.
  3. Hydrate—Your skin will tell us which hydrate product is the right one for you. We feel that everyone should hydrate both in the morning and at night.
  4. Protect—This arguably might be the most important step, as we posted in another article that less than 15% of men and 30% of women wear sunscreen regularly. A broad spectrum, natural sunscreen should be applied 20 minutes before leaving the house to protect against skin cancer.

Now let’s get down to specifics. Let’s say for example that a client comes in and has acne prone skin. She has tried acne medication and just about every cleanser on the market, but nothing has really fixed the issue. When she arrives for her appointment, the esthetician would have her fill out our medical information form and then go over what the client would hope to fix. During the procedure, the esthetician will cleanse her skin twice and then will exfoliate. Following that, the esthetician will do extractions on any blackheads and then a facial and scalp massage. The esthetician will end with a therapeutic mask. If the client has serious acne, the esthetician may use a high frequency to treat it. This will reduce the size of your pores, fine lines and wrinkles. The high frequency treatment can also be used on the scalp to stimulate hair growth.
